Pohnpei tries to get Koreans to stop off enroute to Fiji
Governor Johnny David said Pohnpei is trying to get Korean Air to utilize Pohnpei as an intermediate stop between Seoul and Nadi, Fiji. A delegation from Pohnpei will travel to Korea this month to discuss this with Korea's Ministry of Transportation and Korean Air officials. Pohnpei's main air service is currently Continental Air Micronesia, providing island-hopping flights between Honolulu and Guam.

Guam, Palau, Chuuk focus of Continental Micronesia expansion
Passenger loads appear to be picking up to certain areas of the Western Pacific Islands and Continental Micronesia is responding with additional flights, particularly focused on extra service to Guam from Manila and Hong Kong. Continental is promoting Guam and nearby islands in Japan and elsewhere, a campaign that is paying off. Japanese traffic increased to Palau and Yap by 9 and 11 percent, respectively, in the first five months of the year. The airline is also watching load factors into Palau and Chuuk, both relatively high-visibility scuba diving destinations, to decide when to add an extra flight per week, something the airline intends to do possibly by December.
